ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Part of the exhibition “Urodziłaś się, by rządzić mężczyznami”, this untitled work by Misha Waks explores the relationship between image, language, power, and female agency. Created using a transfer technique on cardboard, the piece incorporates press cuttings and fragments of fashion photography by Marcell Pustul. Through this process, the original images lose their initial context and become material for new meanings, associations, and narratives. Referencing the figure of Queen Bona Sforza, the work reflects on how women in positions of influence are represented, questioned, and mythologized. It looks at how images do not only reflect reality, but actively participate in shaping identity, authority, and social roles.
